| Lamitex | Epoxy-based material reinforced with fiberglass. Solid alternative to steel; also known as G-10 & FR-4. |
| PVC | Thermoplastic vinyl, commonly used for lapping thick parts. High strength-to-weight ratio & economical cost. |
| Lexan | Polycarbonate plastic without fiber reinforcement, Lexan discourages scratching in polishing applications. |
| Phenolic | Stronger than most plastics, Phenolic is a resin binder reinforced with cotton fabric. Typically used with oil-based slurries. |
| Vinyl | Softer than Lexan, it is an economical choice for short runs on smaller machines. |
